This page explains, in plain language, what data LOOKDOWN handles and why. It aims to be understandable rather than exhaustive.
1.What we collect
The brand name, website address, category, building colour and paid amount you provide when you join the city.
An email address and a phone number are REQUIRED for payment: the payment institution accepts neither field empty. Neither is shown in the city; the receipt goes to the email, and the phone is used for refunds and disputes.
If you upload a logo, the image file; if you do not, we try to fetch one from the address you gave.
2.What is public
Brand name, website, category, building colour, paid amount and rank are visible to everyone in the city. That is the point of the service.
Your email address is never displayed and never shared.
3.Cookies
The only cookie we set is `lookdown_lang`, which stores your language preference. Beyond that, Google Analytics sets its own measurement cookies (see Analytics). There are no advertising or profiling cookies.
The site works without it; the language is simply guessed from your browser on each visit.
4.Logos and third-party sites
The logo for the address you give is fetched by our server, not your browser, so your IP address is not sent to that site.
Visitors who click through to your site are then covered by that site’s own privacy policy.
5.Payment
Payments run through PayTR. Card details never reach us: the card is entered on PayTR’s own payment page, which does not run on our systems.
What we store about a payment is: the order number, the amount, the payment outcome, the email address you gave for the receipt, and your phone number. Card number, expiry date and CVV never reach us and are never stored.
Payments are charged in Turkish lira (TRY).
6.Analytics
Google Analytics 4 is used for visit statistics — but ONLY if you explicitly agree. If you decline on the banner shown on your first visit, the measurement script is never loaded and no measurement cookie is written.
Google Analytics writes its own cookies in your browser and sends some data, including your IP address, to Google. That data is subject to Google’s own terms; we do not access any per-person report.
Your choice is kept in a `lookdown_consent` cookie and nowhere else — in particular, not in any record on our server. To change your mind, clear this site’s data and the banner appears again. No part of the service depends on this choice.
The only measurement we keep is this: when someone clicks a building through to a brand’s site, that brand’s counter for that day goes up by one. What is stored is the brand id, the date and a number.
That measurement does NOT store your IP address, a cookie or a session id. So the same click is not counted twice, a separate record is kept, and it holds a single technical value about the visitor: your IP address and browser details are turned into one irreversible digest, and it is that digest which is stored — never the values themselves.
The digest is renewed every day, so records from different days cannot be linked to each other, and it is deleted after 30 days. Its only job is to answer “has this brand already been counted from this visitor today”: because of it, the counter ignores repeat clicks by the same person on the same day.
The total click count is shown publicly on the brand card.
The “online” and “visitors” counters on screen are SIMULATED. They are not a real measurement.
7.Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, for corrections, or for deletion. Deletion removes your building from the city.
Requests: lookdownlolofficial@gmail.com.
